The right substrate needs the right system — there’s no “one render fits all”.
Render Systems Australia provide an excellent range — from traditional bag render for brick and foam through to acrylic renders for blueboard and flexible surfaces. Their coloured acrylic system is one of our go-tos for fences and modern claddings.
Rockcote have a deep reputation in the industry with an incredible range of products, from traditional bag renders through to textured acrylic paints, decorative finishes and Venetian-style polished plasters. We use Rockcote for higher-end finish work.
Traditional sand-and-cement render, mixed on-site to the right ratio for the substrate. It’s the workhorse for brick and blockwork repairs, and still the right call when matching older bagged finishes.
For external Queensland walls there’s really only one short list of products that holds up.
With an unmatched colour selection, a 10-year product warranty and proven performance under Australia’s harsh weather, Dulux Weathershield is still leading the way and remains our painters’ choice for external work.
If you have a preferred brand — Wattyl Solagard, Taubmans Endure, British Paints, Haymes — we’re happy to use it. We’ll quote on the same finish but recommend a system we’ve had long-term success with.
For high-movement walls or coastal salt-air exposure we’ll specify an elastomeric or membrane coating. These flex with the building, bridge hairline cracks and resist water far better than a standard paint.
A render repair done with the wrong base coat, or painted with the wrong top-coat, will fail again within 12–24 months. Picking the right product for the substrate, the climate exposure and the existing finish is half the job.
Acrylic renders are flexible, pre-coloured and ideal for blueboard, foam and lightweight cladding. Traditional cement render is rigid, strong and the right call on solid masonry. We carry both and pick whichever matches the substrate and the existing finish.
New cement render needs 21–28 days to cure before painting. We’ll let you know on the day what we’re using and when the next stage can happen. We use Dulux Weathershield as our default top-coat — a 10-year warranty product that holds colour beautifully in the Gold Coast sun.
